My favorite academic subject has always been science because I have always been interested in how things work and I also want to do something in the medical field when I am older. Ever since I was a little girl I remember being curious about everything around me. I would go to school with my big backpack and my favorite lunchbox and during lunch I would look around and wonder why things were the way they were. I always had alot of questions even if I didn't always know how to ask them.
As I got older science became more interesting to me because I started learning about things I actually wanted to know about. When I took Biology and Anatomy those became my favorite classes because I got to learn about the human body and how it works. There was so many things about the body that I didn't understand before, and learning about the different organs and systems made me want to learn even more. Science class was probably the class I looked forward to the most because every day there was something different to learn about.
Science is also interesting because its everywhere around us even when we don't realize it. There is still so much that hasn't been discovered yet and so many diseases that still don't have cures. This is something that makes me want to be apart of the medical field because I want to use science to help people who are sick or going through life threatening diseases. I think being able to use what I learned to make a difference in someones life would be very rewarding.
In the future I hope to become a cardiothoracic surgeon because I have always been interested in the heart and I want a career where I can help others. Being a surgeon would allow me to use science everyday while also helping people live longer and healthier lives. Science has influenced me in many different ways and without it I probably wouldn't know what I wanted to do in my future. It has helped me realize what I am passionate about and what type of career I want to have one day.

My favorite academic subject is science, partly because it involves what I am destined to do in the future, which is to be a cardiothoracic surgeon. From the time that I was a little girl, with a big backpack on my back and a Dora the explorer lunch pail in my hand, I knew that science was the subject I loved the most. I would look outside where I would eat my lunch and question why everything was called the way it was and why everything looked the way it did.
Growing up with science came in different stages. Anatomy and Biology became my all time favorite subject of science when all my questions that I had about the body were answered with a few years of each class. The subject of science has influenced me in ways that allowed me to find what it was that I wanted to be in the future as an everyday career. Furthermore, when it comes to the school day, the one hour of science that I receive throughout my academic learning experience is one to look forward to as I fill up with excitement to learn more of what is involved in the body.
Science is everywhere; I see it without even knowing that I see it and yet still there is more to uncover that has not been discovered yet. With the infinite possibilities and discoveries that is still left to uncover in the subject of science, it has influenced me in a way that I would like to take the information of science and heal others. It has impacted me to help others and discover treatments to diseases and viruses that can help people in need or who are suffering from a life threatening disease. Science has influenced me in a way that the idea of being a cardiothoracic surgeon, one that involves healing a heart, is my way of expressing my love for science and my love for helping heal others to thrive for more years to come.

The response repeatedly tells us that science is important, but provides limited concrete evidence showing how that curiosity developed. A specific example could make the student's interest more memorable and convincing.
We understand what the student wants to become, but we want to understand more about why this interest is personally meaningful to her and what her experiences reveal about the way she thinks.
